About me...
From a young age, I discovered my passion for creative writing through short stories and poetry. In my twenties, I made the ambitious decision to publish a book, but life events often distracted me from finishing my stories.
Reaching my forties, I realised my desire to write was still alive, now enriched by a wealth of life experiences. The roller coaster of emotions I had navigated filled me with inspiration.
After raising a family and dedicating years to working in mental health, I chose to join the ambulance service at the onset of the covid pandemic to play my part in supporting the UK during an unprecedented health crisis. I felt a calling to help nurse the country back to health rather than remain a bystander as the situation unfolded.
Although this commitment took a toll on my personal and social life, I worked tirelessly to make a difference. It was important to me to support others in their time of need, and I was willing to set everything else aside temporarily to fulfill that mission.
In that moment of service, I discovered a profound sense of purpose and pushed myself to gain the knowledge and experience necessary for my role. I envisioned the future I desired and dedicated myself to turning that vision into reality.
During my journey toward my dreams, I encountered one of my best friends, who encouraged and supported my ambitions. He became my rock, advocating for me in times of need, backing me for promotions, and mentoring me with unwavering support.
This friendship blossomed into a meaningful relationship that allowed me to finally grasp the essence of real love. His steadfast encouragement has played a pivotal role in my journey, and without him, I may never have found the strength to write Love Lucy x.
I set out to create a story that would resonate with others. Love became a transformative force for me, especially when I truly experienced it around the age of forty. This profound realisation opened my eyes to how we often compartmentalise our feelings when love is involved. It’s as if we live inside a bubble, shielding us from the sharp edges of reality. Those outside may observe differently, but in this bubble, we sometimes mask the flaws we would easily see in other relationships.
This understanding shaped my character, Lucy. Conversations with many women revealed a common thread—a denial of imperfections in their relationships, convincing themselves everything was perfect. I channeled this insight into crafting a whirlwind romance between Lucy and Jack.
“Love Lucy x” unfolds through Lucy’s eyes as she strives to make her relationship work while grappling with her emotions and the secrets of her partner. It serves as a poignant reminder of the beauty of true love, while also emphasising the importance of never losing oneself in the pursuit of it.
One profound lesson I’ve learned over the years is that the experience of loving and being loved is truly incredible. The exhilarating rush of love is matched only by the invaluable support of my amazing friends. Their unwavering belief in me through my ventures and wild ideas has been a constant source of strength, and they stand by my side to this day.
